Edinburgh, March 2026
Martin Clark joined Proteus Marine Renewables in late 2025 as Chief Financial Officer, strengthening the executive management team as the company prepares to scale its commercial and operational activities. Based in Edinburgh, his appointment marks a further step in Proteus’s expansion in Scotland and reinforces its commitment to supporting both national and international renewable energy projects as the company scales its activities.
His appointment comes as Proteus advances the commercial deployment of its AR Series tidal turbines and prepares for the next phase of tidal array development in Europe
Martin brings 25 years of financial leadership experience across the energy, engineering, and marine services sectors, having held senior roles with multinational organisations operating across the UK, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and the United States.
Before joining Proteus, Martin served as CFO at Denholm Energy Services, a £380 million turnover group with more than 6,000 employees worldwide. In that role, he led refinancing and acquisition programmes, oversaw improved group cashflow performance, and delivered operational efficiencies. His earlier career included senior finance positions with responsibility for large teams as well as financial transformation and refinancing across international operations.
With extensive experience in corporate restructuring, capital strategy, international tax compliance, and financial governance, Martin will play a key role in supporting Proteus’s growth as the company advances the commercialisation of its AR Series tidal turbines in preparation for array-scale deployment in France and the UK.
Drew Blaxland, CEO, said:
“Martin’s depth of experience in ensuring that multi-faceted operations deliver strong financial performance will be invaluable as we enter a major phase of commercial growth. His insight and leadership will help ensure Proteus is financially and strategically positioned to realise its ambitions for industrial-scale delivery to tidal stream energy projects.”
Martin Clark, CFO, added:
“Joining Proteus at this stage of its growth story is an enormously exciting opportunity. The group’s technology, operational and technical expertise, and strategic partnerships place it at the forefront of tidal energy, and I’m looking forward to helping strengthen its financial foundations as the business moves into commercial deployment.”
