Celebrating Women in Engineering at Proteus Marine Renewables

June 24, 2024

As part of our ongoing celebration of International Women in Engineering Day #INWED24, we're excited to shine a spotlight on Shu Jiang, Project Coordinator and PMO support at Proteus Marine Renewables- whose remarkable journey in tidal and renewable energy industry has been nothing short of inspiring.

This year's theme, "Enhanced by Engineering," perfectly captures her indispensable contribution to our projects.

Since joining us in 2019, Shu has been involved in some of our most groundbreaking tidal energy projects, including Japan’s first large-scale tidal energy demonstration project, Goto Tidal Project Phase 1 and Phase 2. Transitioning from a different engineering field, Shu's interdisciplinary background allowed her to quickly master the complexities of Tidal Turbine Generation Systems. Her can-do attitude, problem-solving skills, and unwavering commitment to excellence demonstrate that with determination and passion, it’s possible to excel and thrive, no matter the obstacles.

Shu's engineering journey started with a childhood curiosity about how things work and how to harness these mechanisms effectively. This passion continues to drive her—and us—forward.

“It’s been a great joy learning new things from the team every day and knowing I have contributed to the successful delivery of the products and the overall project, “says Shu.

Join us in celebrating all the amazing women engineers who inspire us every day!
