Proteus Welcomes Edward Richards as Principal Mechanical Engineer

July 25, 2024

Edward Richards joins Proteus as our new Principal Mechanical Engineer! With his expertise, Edward will focus on the design and development of the AR3000 turbine, our most powerful and innovative turbine yet!

Edward is no stranger to our team, having started his journey with us over 20 years ago with Marine Current Turbines, working on the SeaFlow turbine. He then contributed to the design, construction, and assembly of SeaGen. Edward's journey continued with Atlantis, where he played a crucial role in the design of our AR1500 turbine and the subsequent new pitch system design for our AR-series turbines.

Over the past three years Edward further honed his skills and expertise at Kent, as Principal Structural Engineer in Offshore Wind where he worked on Monopile foundation projects.

Reflecting on his return, Edward shared: "Joining Proteus feels like coming home to innovation and excellence. I'm eager to contribute to the AR3000 project and help drive our renewable energy mission forward, especially with our significant projects in Japan, Scotland, and France.”

"We warmly welcome Ed back to our marine energy family. His wealth of experience and deep understanding of our tidal turbines will be pivotal as we push for continuous improvements and growth.", says Drew, our CEO.
